There is a moment each morning that almost no one notices.
It happens quietly.
Before the noise of the day.
Before the mind begins its usual search for problems to solve.
Before the world remembers its urgency.
A soft glow appears on the horizon.
The ocean receives it first.
Light begins to spread across the water, slowly, patiently — as if the world itself is remembering something it never truly forgot.
This painting began with a simple image:
a figure standing at the edge of the sea, looking toward the rising sun.
But as the painting unfolded, I realized the figure could be anyone.
It could be you.
It could be me.
It could be any human being standing at the threshold between darkness and light.
That moment when awareness simply notices.
No striving.
No seeking.
Just witnessing.
The horizon becomes a mirror of something much deeper — the quiet realization that the light we are waiting for has always been arriving.
The world wakes every morning to remind us.
About the Painting
Where the Light First Appears
Gallery of Remembrance — Painting I
This piece marks the beginning of a new visual collection titled Gallery of Remembrance.
Each painting in the series explores a preserved life moment — a quiet scene where awareness meets the beauty of existence.
In this first painting, a solitary figure stands above the ocean as sunrise spreads across the horizon. The moment is expansive and contemplative, inviting the viewer into a space of stillness and reflection.
It is less about the person in the painting, and more about the moment itself.
The moment when we pause long enough to notice that life is already unfolding perfectly.
Closing Reflection
Perhaps the horizon is not something we chase.
Perhaps it is simply where we remember.
And every morning, the light appears again — as if the universe is patiently reminding us that it was never truly gone.
Life, presently known as Kurt.
This painting is the first piece in the Gallery of Remembrance series.
More moments are already waiting to appear.

That was simply lovely, Kurt ...
I too miss the sunrise whilst I am in Florida, as a meditation ritual, every Friday I visit the Bay and embrace my moment of peace after a week Noise.
